Bicycle itineraries on Lake Garda Risorgive cycle path

The most beautiful bike tours are those experienced with friends of all time, stainless and irreplaceable companions of adventure.

In the shop, people often ask me for advice on bike tours on Lake Garda, but rather than just provide a route, this time I have the pleasure of sharing a real travel story.

With me in this adventure on the Risorgive cycle path, two old friends, Gianni and Domenico.

This short story was written by one of them, Gianni, who was able to express in an excellent way the emotions and the fun that we shared. Enjoy the reading!

On the Risorgive cycle path: our bikes

"Siamo solo in tre, tre somari e tre briganti..."

(In English: There are only three of us, three donkeys and three bandits...)

Domenico Modugno sang it...

There were three of us: Francesco, a long-distance cyclist, randonneur, mechanic and alternative cycle trader; Domenico, called Nino by everyone, supersportsman and super-trained (but he doesn't mind, in fact...); and I, the undersigned, who is not worth much, but who, fortunately for him, is aware of it. In all well over a century and a half at the registry office.

On the bike carrier, placed on the tow hook of Nino's Panda, there are the three donkeys (the bikes), and mine... better not to talk about it... a rather old Specialized trek, but dignifiedly rehabilitated by Francesco's intelligence and wise manual skill, a nice Mountain Bike Specialized by Nino (shock-absorbed fork, hydraulic disc brakes etc...) and the too nice Fuji of Francesco, improved by him with woodchipper handlebars, gearbox with cyclocross handles, front hub dynamo and Son lights, Brooks saddle, Garmin GPS etc...). But what matters is known... are the legs, you have to push!!!

Bike itineraries on Lake Garda: from Peschera del Garda to Verona

We left by bike in the fresh morning from Peschiera del Garda, we almost did not notice and we arrived at the beautiful village of Valeggio sul Mincio. A look around, tea and snack and back in the saddle for the climb towards the center of Valeggio. Being experienced cyclists... we were able to get lost... and not just once!

Risorgive Valeggio

Maybe the so-called Risorgive cycle path that connects Valeggio sul Mincio to Verona (in Pontoncello to be exact) is not very well marked, it is that when we are together we know how to confuse each other with the help of the wrong information that we collect that the 35 km of the cycle route have almost doubled. But you want to put how nice to get lost in the fields... the important thing is to know how to find yourself.

Risorgive a Valeggio

However, we want to share with you the joy of a day lived in friendship, with the harmony that gives nature to those who live it, appreciates and respects it and the bike is, and always remains, the ecological means, simpler and more practical to do all this... struggling.

Lunch in Castel d'Azzano

Lunch in Castel d'Azzano

Not bad either the working lunch in a small restaurant in Castel d'Azzano and the return by train from the station of Verona P.N., for me the easiest part of the exit. Almost 90 km in all, a warm but windy climate. The Risorgive cycle path runs almost all on level ground along irrigation canals in the middle of the countryside and in the Verona area it is all asphalted and well maintained even if you still have to be careful at crossroads on minor roads. It's good for cyclists like me, so for everyone. Not recommended in strictly summer / very hot because it is not particularly protected by tall trees, better to bring enough water in a water bottle.

For more info ask Francesco Mognetti, he knows everything and maybe sets up the bike at best ... his Fuji still intrigues me.
